BEST OF TURKEY 10 DAYS (Suggested Itinerary)

Day 1 Flight To Istanbul
Arrival at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Meet by PAKERO TRAVEL representative and transfer to the hotel at Taksim Square the center of new town. Welcome meeting, Dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Day 2 Full Day Istanbul City Tour
Tour of "Sultan Ahmet Center", the heart of the "Old City" from where the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires were ruled. Start your day in Hippodrome, the center of sportive (chariot races, athletics) events and political activities of the city in Roman and Byzantium periods. See the Obelisk of Theodosius, Serpentine Column and German Fountain of Wilhelm II. Walk to Blue Mosque, facing St. Sophia, famous with its blue Iznik tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet 1609-1616. Visit St. Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as basilica in the 6th century AD by Emperor Justinian. Lunch in a local restaurant. Walk to Topkapi Palace, beautifully decorated gardens and impressive building complex used to be imperial residence of Ottoman Sultans exhibiting imperial treasury, Chinese porcelain, weapons, calligraphy, holy relics section today, Stroll through Grand Covered Bazaar, the authentic experience in a competitive souk.
Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Istanbul. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Istanbul - Cannakkale, Gallipoli, Troy
After breakfast, we will begin our scenic drive along the sea of Marmara down to Gallipoli, historically famous for being the site of many battles during WWI. Following a lunch break, we will cross the second strategic waterway, the Dardanelles, and land in Asia and proceed to Troy. Referred to in Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey", Troy has in fact nine cities superimposed one upon another. Troy VI pertains to the famous Trojan War of Homer where the legendary heroes included Agamemnon, Achilles, Ulysses, and Nestor on the Greek side and Priamos, Hector, and Paris on the Trojan side. We will check-in to our hotel in Canakkale for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Canakkale - Pergamon - Kusadası
Depart for Kusadası, enroute we will have lunch in Bergama after visiting Pergamon to see the Acropolis, the Temple of Trajan and the theater both overlooking to the plain of Bergama. Visit a local handicraft center to see the demonstration on the process of making handmade Turkish carpets and the most beautiful and rich collection. Time will be allocated for shopping. Lunch in a local restaurant. Then finally Ancient Medical Center, Asclepion will be visited before driving to Kusadasi.Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Kusadası - Ephesus
Following breakfast we drive to Selcuk to visit the House of Virgin Mary on top of Mt. Coressos. Then our memorable visit to Ephesus, once the commercial center of the ancient world, is a highlight of any visit to Turkey will begin as well as viewing one of the Seven Churches of Revelation. The ruins also include the largest ancient theater, gymnasium, agora and baths, as well as the library of Celsus the Temple of Artemis (One of the Seven Wonders of Antiquity). Lunch break in a local restaurant. Visit the Basilica of St. John, what remained from the largest church of the area dating back to 6th century AD.

Day 6 Kusadası - Pamukkale
We will visit the famous local production center for leather garments whereby after a live Fashion Show, time will be allocated for shopping. Then continue to Pamukkale. You will tour the Antique City of Hierapolis where Calcareous hot springs descending over cliffs have created fascinating travertine in the form of white terrace and basins. Arriving to the hotel after some photo breaks.

Day 7 Pamukkale - Konya - Cappadocia
Following an early breakfast we will drive through an interesting landscape where peasants make their living, stop to have lunch enroute before arriving in Konya. Konya was the center of the Seljuk Empire as well as the city of Mevlana and his Whirling Dervishes. After visiting the Mevlana Museum, we will continue to Cappadocia viewing the Sultanhani Caravanserai enroute.
Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Full Day Tour in Cappadocia
Today we visit the incredible Underground City of Kaymakli where early Christians lived secretly in order to survive and keep their faith. Then picture stops will be given at the Pigeons Valley and at the foot of the Uchisar Castle. Then proceed to the Goreme Valley to visit the rock carved churches hollowed out of volcanic ash. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia. (B, L, D)
Optional: Belly Dance show at Cave Restaurant.

Day 9 Cappadocia - Ankara
Today you can wake up early to join optional activity Hot Air Baloon riding before breakfast, the best way to see lunar landscape of region. Unforgettable experience with the fascinating beauty of Cappadocia. Then drive to Ankara the capital city of modern Turkey. Visit the Ataturk Mausoleum (1881-1938), founding father of the Turkish Republic. After lunch visit the well-known Museum of Ancient Anatolian Civilizations with its great Hittite Collection.
Dinner and overnight in Ankara. (B, L, D)

Day 10 Flight to Back Home
Transfer to Ankara Esenboga Airport. Flight back to Scandinavia via Istanbul.
